Call to Artists for: Triangle Artists' Workshop 2012 The Triangle Artists’ Workshop – our flagship program – is an intense two-week studio session for an international group of 25-30 professional visual artists. Neither an art colony nor a school, the workshop offers a unique occasion for artists to meet and exchange ideas, not simply through talking, but by making art side by side for a concentrated period in a self-contained location. During the workshop, artists receive organized studio visits from critics, writers and curators, and participate in two organized panel discussions. The workshop culminates in an Open Studio exhibition, free and open to the general public. The workshop maintains a unique position in the contemporary artist residency milieu by continuing to operate by artists for artists. In its 30 years it has held fast to the spirit of the original workshop by simply assembling a diverse group of individuals and allowing them a chance to create amidst and with one another without any expectation whatsoever of the outcome. In essence, Triangle facilitates an environment in which artists are free to create a workshop that suits their creative needs in the moment. Artists are provided with studios, meals and housing and have access to a wood shop, technical support and other production facilities as needed. Artists are responsible for all other expenses, including the costs of travel and materials and are asked to contribute a $100 administrative fee upon acceptance to the program. Accepted participants with a demonstrated need, can apply for limited travel scholarships.
